Our Version of Healthy

Earlier this year, our pastor called for a fast. The Daniel Fast. Here are some of the foods we still incorporate into our diet because we loved them so much.

Roasted veggies and homemade corn tortillas.

Frozen Banana Ice Cream.
Super yummy! Just peel and freeze ripe bananas.
Once frozen, puree in food processor and viola...Banana Ice Cream.

Lentil Bean soup, potato wedges and corn tortillas.

Spaghetti with whole wheat noodles, whole wheat garlic chips and salad.

Humus and veggie wraps.

Date Sauce. Like apple sauce but made with dates.
Super yummy! Soak dates in some water over night
then toss water and dates in blender till apple sauce texture.
We use this to add a little sweetness to things.

Have you ever tried a healthier way of eating and surprised yourself that you actually enjoyed the food? We did.

I'm thankful God is drawing us to a healthier way of eating and lifestyle, even if it is baby steps.

Starla J.

  1. You've given me some ideas for a variety of tasty meals. I think the first one I try is the date sauce since I don't like them- maybe this will be nicer, thinking of adding some cinnamon.

    1. Cinnamon sounds good in the date sauce. I'll have to try that.

  2. Everything looks so yummy! Yes, I have changed my eating habits and I am surprised at the things I now enjoy eating. The biggest one is beets. I hated them as a kid and never thought I would actually like them. I have learned to treat my body right since it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I'm glad you found new foods to enjoy that are healthy. Blessings!

    1. I like beets now but didn't as a kid. I like cabbage now to but was disgusted by it when I was younger. Funny how we change. Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

  3. Well I need to try that banana ice cream immediately! As an added bonus: it's safe for pups, too! Perhaps we will use it as a sweet puppy & people treat at Holly's upcoming birthday!

  5. I attempted banana ice cream once but I left them in the peel. It is virtually impossible to peel a frozen banana! HAHA! I will have to try it again! Thank you for linking up!
