Crochet Mary Jane Slippers

I'm so excited to share with you my recent crochet success! I love how these slippers turned out. My daughter and mother are already asking me to make a pair for them.

I'm trying to learn to crochet. OK.... I've been "trying" for years. LOL I struggle with reading crochet patterns. It's like reading a foreign language to me.  I just don't get it. I buy patterns and try to follow them only to rip it apart and try over again and again. I know it's just me being a newbie at crocheting and not the pattern but AHHH, it can be so frustrating! So I got on YouTube and found this video on how to make Mary Jane Slippers. The owner of the YouTube channel is "Glama". My dream would to look as good as she does when I'm 49 years old.  She seems like the sweetest lady. I love her voice and how she chit chats while doing tutorials. I followed her video on how to make the slippers and flowers. You can find the flower tutorial HERE.  It was so much easier for me to follow along to a video than read a pattern. At least while I'm still in newbie mode.  Please check out her YouTube channel, HERE, if you are learning to crochet.

I'll post pics when I'm done with the pair for my daughter. I'm thankful for people like Glama who offer free tutorials for people like me to learn.

Do you crochet? Was it hard for you in the beginning to read patterns?

Blessings,

Starla J.

  1. Hi Starla, This is Glama...Your Slippers Turned Out Beautifully! I'm Proud of You ; ) I like your little Blog write up, Thank you for guiding people to My "Made With Love By Glama" YouTube Channel.

If your anything like me...You'll be hooked/addicted to crochet very soon if your not already...My guess is you already are ; ) I have only been crocheting about 10 months as well, but I was getting frustrated when I first started because My work would angle inward and that's cuz I wasn't stitching into the very last stitch of the row and the correct stitch at the beginning of a row either.

So I started this channel Mainly to help beginners like myself, to see if I could explain the basics the way I would've liked and needed them explained to me, so that they don't make the same mistakes as me, and saving them the frustration that I went thru, I would hate for anyone to get discouraged and give this beautiful craft up, just because of a few simple fixable mistakes...So This channel is mainly for beginners, like you and I...that is why I also have so many Super Easy Projects on here, because I want someone to be able to make something Beautiful and Wearable from their Very First Attempt at Crochet.

I want everyone to walk away feeling Proud & Accomplished by their New Talent.

    Lots Of Love,

    Glama

  3. The look so cute! I really want to learn! My grandma was a great crocheter (is that what you call people who does crochet? LOL) May be I can start with something simple, like a table runner because it's just straight. :)
