Recipe: Date Sauce

Date Sauce. Like apple sauce but with using dates instead.

I like using date sauce in my oatmeal, on peanut butter sandwiches, in cereal, and most places that need some sweetener.
I'm trying to stay away from extra added sugar. Date sauce is a yummy substitute when trying to limit sugar intake. Dates are naturally really sweet. Here is a very basic recipe.

Very Extensive Ingredients List:

Package of fresh dates
water

Labor Intensive Instruction:

Place fresh dates in small bowl. Add just enough water to barely cover them. Soak for a couple of hours or overnight. After dates have had their soak. Place the dates and water in the blender or food processor and puree. You can add less or more water to get your desired consistency.

TADA! Date Sauce. Easy Peasy.

You can spice it up with some cinnamon if you like. It depends what I will use it with if I add cinnamon or not.

One way I use date sauce is by taking a whole wheat tortilla, spread a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter and add sliced banana on it then drizzle some of this date sauce over the top. Roll it up and eat. Yummy! Healthy!

I hope you enjoy this recipe.

Blessings,

Starla J.

  3. Hmm, I don't think I've ever thought to use a date for pretty much anything, lol! But this looks good. I gave up sugar the beginning of the year and feel and look so much better.

  4. I'm very curious to see if I like this, since dates aren't my favorite thing. I love easy sauces though, so I'm adding it my list to try.

  5. I'm iffy on dates, too--but I'd like to give it a try. This makes me think of apple butter, only with dates.
