Emptying Yourself Out

I heard an analogy on the radio this morning that I wanted to share with you, my friends.

There sits in front of you two glasses of water. Both are full. Imagine one is you and the other is Jesus. You must empty the first cup of its contents to be able to fill it with the contents of the second cup. To be completely filled with Jesus in your life you need to empty yourself completely of you and ask Jesus to fill you with Himself.

Philippians 4:4
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again; Rejoice!"

This verse was written by Paul. He was not rich with a big house, nice cars, lots of cash, and with no worries. He was in prison and beaten. Did you see that? He was in PRISON. He was in a hard spot, but still encouraged us to think on good things and to REJOICE! Pilippians 4:8

What must we empty from our lives to be fulfilled in Christ?

What are we holding onto that we must let go?

These come to mind...

Pride

Fear

Anger

Selfishness

Busyness

Perfectionism

Attitude

Unmet Expectations

Pain

Hurts

How do we empty our lives of these things?

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

*Trust God.

Two words. Sounds simple, but so hard sometimes. Not living off our feelings and emotions, but submitting ALL our ways, plans, relationships, and stuff that we fill our cups with to God.

Trusting God that He is enough for us and He will take care of us.

Even in the darkest moments.

We are happiest when we are in His perfect will for our lives.

*Pray!

*Read your bible. Remember reading your Bible brings healing and a sound mind.

*Remember who you are in Christ.
You are a treasure. You are beautiful to Him. You are important. You are loved. God is with you even during these hard times in life. There is an end to this storm. God has given you a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

So when life and/or others have us down, scared, worried, sad, hurt or when the busyness of life overwhelms us, let's think on rejoicing on the good things. Let go of the things that hinder God from moving in our lives and that steal our Joy. Let's trust that God has us. He is our hope and our anchor.

God is enough for us.

Praise God!!

Let's pray that God will help us release what need to let go of and to keep our eyes on Him!

Blessings,

Starla J.

  5. Love this line: "Trusting God that He is enough for us and He will take care of us." That is where our family is right now. I'm not comfortable in our current circumstances, but I am trusting that He will see us through them, He is working in them, and we will be better off for them.

Thanks for the encouragement today, Starla! May He continue to fill your cup to overflowing!
