God Has Not Forgotten Your Name

Most parents start early on teaching their kids to write their names. I remember doing exactly that as soon as my kids could hold a crayon. I would lovingly sit beside them and write each letter of their names on a paper and explain every detail of every letter to my children. My kids would trace the letters and eventually would learn to write their names on their own. With excitement, silly dances and lots of hugs we celebrated this event: learning to write your own name.

Our name is a part of our identity. It's an important part of who we are.

Have you ever felt like God has forgotten your name?

You are not alone. Remember King David cried out to God asking why He has forgotten him? (Psalm 42:9) I wonder if Moses' mother asked God that same question as she laid her baby in that basket and set him on the water. Her heart must have ached and burning tears must have flowed down her cheeks. (Exodus 2:3) Jesus understands, as He too asked God why He has forsaken Him as He hung on the cross. (Matthew 27:46)

Challenges change depending on the seasons in life we go through. As wave upon wave of adversity seems to try to overtake us. At times, it may feel like God is nowhere in sight. However, we must remember to NOT rely on our feelings

The good news is that the path of God will not lead you where the grace of God does not go.

God CAN NOT forget you! Did you know that He has your name written on the palm of His hand?

Isaiah 49:16 "See I have inscribed you on the palms of My hand; Your walls are continually before me."

Now does this mean life should be easy peasy? No! God may choose you and me, but He loves us too much to leave us where we are at. He has us walk through trials to make us focus on Him. It is like He is chiseling us and molding us into who He wants us to be. Does it hurt? You bet! Is it worth it? Absolutely

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16

God chose us: you and me! We did not find Him, but He found us! God was never lost, but His grace and mercy found us.

No matter where you are in life, what you've done, what you've said, or what you are going through: God is choosing you.

God loves us and He cannot forget us!

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34

If you are facing a fierce battle in life right now or just need to be reminded that God has not forgotten you, write His name on the palm of your hand, just like He has written your name on the palm of His hand. When you look down at your hand, let it be a reminder to your that He loves you and will never forget your name!

You didn't find God. God has never been lost. He found you. His grace and love found you.

Much love,

Starla J.

  1. So powerful! The greatest moments of pain in my life have also been the times I've heard God the clearest. He is always reminding me that I'm ok and he sees me.

  2. A wonderful reminder! It's inevitable that we'll feel alone. I've found that developing a strong faith before it happens helps so much!
